Pakistan Navy Hosts Ninth Multinational Maritime Exercise Aman-25

Karachi: The Pakistan Navy is set to host the ninth edition of the multinational naval exercise Aman-25, with participation from 60 countries. This year’s exercise will feature naval ships, aircraft, special operations forces, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, and international observers.

A media briefing on the event was held at the Pakistan Navy’s Fleet Headquarters Auditorium on Tuesday, where Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, shared key details regarding the exercise and the inaugural Aman Dialogue, scheduled to take place from February 7 to 11.

He highlighted the shifting global landscape from geopolitics to geo-economics, emphasizing the increasing importance of securing global trade and energy routes. The Indian Ocean Region, facing both traditional and non-traditional security threats, has necessitated a reassessment of maritime security strategies.

“No single country can tackle the complex maritime challenges alone; therefore, we stand ‘together for peace’,” Rear Admiral Munib stated. He stressed that Aman-25 aims to foster collaboration among maritime nations, allowing them to exchange expertise, develop secure and sustainable practices, and collectively address threats at sea.

The exercise is structured into two phases: the harbour phase (February 7-9) and the sea phase (February 10-11). The harbour phase will feature seminars, operational discussions, professional demonstrations, international meetups, and sporting events. Meanwhile, the sea phase will involve tactical naval drills, including anti-piracy and counter-terrorism operations, search and rescue missions, and live-fire exercises.

A key highlight of the sea phase will be the International Fleet Review, attended by both national and foreign dignitaries aboard a Pakistan Navy vessel.

Rear Admiral Munib noted that the increasing international participation in Aman-25 underscores global confidence in the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to collaborative maritime security efforts.
